What's a Group Class? 

In the Group Class, Jeannie will be introducing a new style of dance each week.  These are beginner-friendly classes in which each type of dance will be explained step-by-step.  These classes are a great way to become acquainted with many different styles of ballroom!

What's a 4-week Progressive Series Class?

In the Progressive Series Classes, Jeannie will be teaching a new style of dance each month for 4 consecutive weeks.  The length and structure of the Progressive Classes will allow for more detailed, in-depth instruction, as the dancer progresses throughout the month, building on the skills learned each week.

What's a Dance Party?

Follow up your ballroom class with a 2-hour social hour, in which Jeannie will be providing a variety of music to allow dancers to practice what they've been learning in class, "mix, mingle," and dance the night away!  This is a great opportunity to practice those dance moves, meet new friends, get closer to old ones, and dance away the cares of the week! 

Instructor:  Jeannie Linn

     Jeannie has been teaching professionally as a ballroom, Latin, and social dance instructor in the Bay Area for the past five years.  Her dance background includes training in ballet, modern, ballroom, latin, salsa, west coast swing, blues, and Argentine tango.  After her competition training, Jeannie studied over 17 different styles of partner dancing at the Ballroom Dance Teacher's College, where she graduated with high honors. 

     Jeannie teaches group lessons, private lessons, and wedding choreography in local dance studios.  Currently, she is finding inspiration from the social dance scene, preferring to improvise and experiment with her multi-lingual dance background.  Jeannie is a compassionate and patient instructor, who emphasizes good technique, musicality, and connection with your partner. 

     CVDA is honored to join with Jeannie in bringing Ballroom Dance to the Clayton Valley area!

We apologize for the pause in our ballroom classes.  Jeannie has had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study ballroom abroad (!) and will return in April.  We will keep you posted on the upcoming spring schedule.

DANCE DESCRIPTIONS

East Cost Swing  - A fun, upbeat dance that originated from Lindy Hop, the original swing dance.  Its easy bounce and playful attitude make it a crowd favorite!

Waltz  - A classic, elegant ballroom dance that is often admired for its smooth and gliding look.  Dancers travel along the line of dance with grace and sophistication.

Salsa  - A popular nightclub dance that can be danced in almost any major city in the world.  It is a fast-paced, rhythmical dance that involves the smooth motion of the hips.
