Nutcracker Class & Rehearsal Information

All dancers participating in the 2026 CVDA Nutcracker must enroll in the Saturday 11:30 AM Nutcracker class through our online registration system.

Nutcracker enrollment will close August 31, 2026.

This weekly class serves as the official rehearsal for the production. Throughout the season, dancers will learn choreography for their assigned roles and rehearse with fellow cast members as we prepare for the performances.

Parent & Dancer Information Meeting

Saturday, August 22 at 11:30 AM

Our first class will be an informational meeting for both parents and dancers. During this meeting, we'll introduce the production, review rehearsal expectations, discuss costumes and performance details, and explain how the show will come together.

There are no auditions!

Each dancer will choose the style(s) of dance they would like to perform, and every registered dancer will be cast in at least one routine in the production.

The Nutcracker class will meet August 22 through December 12, 2026. Enrollment is for the duration of the production, and dancers will automatically be removed from the class after the final performance weekend.

Performance & Costume Fee

In addition to monthly tuition, each dancer will pay a $150 Performance & Costume Fee. The fee is due October 1, 2026 and will process with your regular monthly tuition.

This fee includes:

  • Costume

  • Official 2026 CVDA Nutcracker T-shirt

  • Digital cast photo

  • Digital performance video

  • Two performance tickets per family

Families with multiple performers will receive one additional ticket for each additional dancer. For example:

  • 1 dancer = 2 tickets

  • 2 dancers = 3 tickets

  • 3 dancers = 4 tickets

Additional tickets will be available for purchase closer to the performance.

Creating the Magic

The Performance & Costume Fee also helps fund the scenery and production elements that bring our Nutcracker to life.

As part of the Nutcracker experience, dancers will have the opportunity to help design, create, and build portions of the production set during class. This hands-on experience allows dancers to explore the creative process beyond choreography and gain an appreciation for everything that goes into producing a live theatrical performance.

From learning their dances to helping create the world they perform in, dancers will experience what it truly takes to bring an unforgettable production to the stage.

FAQ

When does class/rehearsal start?

The first Nutcracker class will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 11:30 AM. This class will also serve as an informational meeting for both dancers and parents.

During the class, dancers will have the opportunity to explore the choreography and choose the style(s) of dance they would like to perform. Following class, our instructors will thoughtfully assign dancers to routines based on their selections, age, and experience level to create a balanced and exciting production.

A complete cast list, along with rehearsal information and any additional details, will be emailed to all registered families after class.

What if my dancer needs to miss class?

We understand that families have busy schedules and other commitments. While occasional absences may be unavoidable, we encourage dancers to attend rehearsals regularly so they can build confidence and perform their best.

If a dancer misses a rehearsal, choreography videos will be provided so they can practice at home and stay up to date with their routine. Regular attendance helps ensure each dancer is prepared and allows the cast to rehearse together as a team.

What if my dancer needs to withdraw from the Nutcracker?

We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise. If your dancer is no longer able to participate in the Nutcracker, please notify the studio by email as soon as possible so we can make any necessary adjustments to the production.

Please note that the Performance & Costume Fee is non-refundable once it has been paid, as costumes, production materials, and other performance-related expenses are ordered and purchased in advance.

If your dancer withdraws before the performance, they will no longer be responsible for monthly Nutcracker class tuition after their withdrawal has been processed, in accordance with the studio's regular tuition policies.
